A Robinson Family Gathering 2026

07.17.2026 - 07.19.2026

Dear Robinson Family,

I hope this message finds you well. As Chairman of the 2026 Robinson Family Reunion, I am writing to share an important update regarding our upcoming summer gathering.

After a thorough review of current travel conditions and family feedback, the planning committee has made the strategic decision to move our 2026 event from Charleston, South Carolina, to Mobile, Alabama. A commitment to the health, safety, and financial well-being of every family member drove this change.

Why We Are Moving to Mobile

The committee analyzed several key data points to ensure this year is successful and accessible for everyone:

Health + Safety: A Measles outbreak since 2025 in South Carolina poses a significant risk to our non-vaccinated youth and our cherished elderly members.

Participation Metrics: As of April 4th, RSVP’s totaled fewer than 23 family members, falling short of our 50-person metric required for a full-scale Charleston event.

Economic Factors: With high inflation and gas prices rising above $4.00 per gallon, we want to reduce the financial burden on our households.

Travel Logistics: Ongoing airport delays and TSA staffing shortages make air travel increasingly unpredictable.

A Meaningful New Venue: Mobile, Alabama

By moving to Mobile, we are returning to the historic entrance site of our patriarch, John Robinson. This shift allows us to mitigate risks while honoring our roots.

Due to these adjustments, we are designating this year’s event as a Family Gathering rather than our traditional formal Reunion.

Gathering Details: July 17-19, 2026

While the location has changed, the dates remain the same. We have simplified the structure to provide more flexibility:

No Registration Fee: There is no cost to register for this year's gathering.

Lodging: Families are asked to select and book their own hotel accommodations in Mobile to fit their specific needs and budget. A list of recommended quality hotels will be provided for your convenience.

Free T-Shirts: The committee is pleased to provide complimentary t-shirts for all family members in attendance.

Highlights of the Gathering: The weekend will focus on three core pillars: a Family Fellowship Dinner, a historic tour of Africatown, and our official family portraits.

We look forward to coming together in a way that is safe, affordable, and deeply connected to our family history. More specific details regarding the dinner venue and tour times will follow shortly.

We look forward to seeing you all in Mobile!

Sincerely,

Earl Robinson

Chairman, 2026 Robinson Family Gathering Committee

Who are the robinson women?

Crowned With Grace and Love: Honoring the queens of the robinson Legacy

With the upcoming 2026 reunion, we would like to shine some light on the matriarchs of the family. If anyone has any stories, photos, or general information to share we would love to hear.

The Robinson bulletin

The Robinson Reunion Committee is interested in creating a recipe book filled with recipes supplied by each of us. This can be sold within the family as a fundraiser to help offset the costs of reunion fees and can even be sold to the public to increase opportunities for raising funds. Proceeds can not only go towards reunion costs but maybe even a scholarship fund in the family name or use to maintain the family land in Jemison, AL.

If you are interested in participating and would like to share your recipe, photo, and any accompanying story about the dish, please submit them to avrobinsonconnection.com. Submissions are requested to be received no later than the end of February 2026.

End-of-life planning is something we never want to think about, but it’s inevitable. Please don’t leave your family to having to raise funds through fundraising efforts or selling plates because you failed to get your affairs in order while here. And let’s say you experience a medical emergency and need someone to advocate for you and manage affairs for you — who will that be? Are they prepared with the important information needed to do so? These are real-life things to consider. It’s not too late, and if you are not sure where to start, please consider the document available in the ‘Newsletter + Documents’ tab to guide you in the process.
